FORT MOUNTAIN STATE PARK
This Georgia State Park in the Chattahoochee National Forest offers beautiful trails winding through hardwood forest and blueberry thickets that hikers and mountain bikers will enjoy, or lounge around the sandy beach surrounding the clear mountain lake. RED CLAY STATE HISTORIC PARK
This park is on the last Council Grounds for the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation. Walking trails, picnic areas and the “Blue Hole” Council Spring provide a tranquil setting for outdoor activities. 5 miles north of Dalton.
CARTERS LAKE
One of the most scenic lakes in the Southeast located at the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains where you can camp, picnic, boat, fish, hunt and mountain bike. Rental cabins and boats are available. 15 miles southeast of Dalton.
